The Ritual Hours
Original Indian classical music, paced to the breath. Eight slow, unfolding alaps on bansuri, sitar, sarod and santoor, one for each hour of the ritual, from first light to deep rest.

Eight hours, from first light to deep rest, on repeat
Composed for the breath
Each phrase of an alap is one breath of the musician. UMM Sound lengthens those phrases through the day, so the music moves at the pace of a slow, settled breath.
A raga for every hour
In the Indian classical tradition, each raga belongs to a time of day. Uแนฃas carries the stillness of first light. Nidrฤ, the final hour, carries the quiet of night.
The threshold
The bath has always been where the mind softens and ideas arrive unbidden. The yogic tradition calls this state Nidrฤ: rest, held with awareness. The Ritual Hours is composed for that threshold, in the bath, in the treatment room, and in the last quiet moments before sleep.
